Below are the 2024 focus areas. Additionally, Alyssa believes in support for small businesses, continued support for vocational education, and the county maintaining a balanced budget.
Access to Childcare
Children are the fundamental building block of every society. It is our job to protect and provide for them in every way we reasonably can. I will tenaciously follow through to find every revenue source available to supplement our local childcare providers and ensure that safe, high quality, and affordable child care is accessible to any family in need of it.
Affordable Housing
We need to incentivize our youth to stay here in Berrien County. Common sense steps can be taken to make affordable housing available to the members of this community. We could work with our local community colleges to provide vocational opportunities to train new contractors and subcontractors or introduce more flexibility to our zoning ordinances.
Mental Health Funding
The mental health of our area has too long been neglected. We need to make sure more resources are available to both the residents and also to the officers who protect our community. We can look to the mental health responders in Wayne County as an example of what we could offer locally.
